I took these light paint photos using a Nikon camera on manual mode on a tripod in a dark room. To get the light effect my partner used an app on her phone called mylightpaint and I set the shutter speed to five or six seconds. The only struggle I had was the timing of taking the picture and my partner doing her action was off initially and got better as we continued with the photos. From this light painting I learned that shutter speed, stability with a tripod, and the amount of light in the environment can really affect the the outcome of the photograph. With light painting you can also do special effects of like supernatural abilities.
