To take these type of photos, you set your camera's shutter speed to 1,000 on the dial, and in the menu you set the ISO to 1600. The only thing that made it difficult to take these photos was the timing between the person performing the action. I learned that with fast shutter speed you can capture things still in the air, make images blurry, and that having liquids in the photo are a great addition to shutter speed pictures. Fast shutter speed can be used to capture faster projectiles like bullets.
This artwork is about respecting yourself. Respecting yourself starts with increasing your own knowledge. When you have knowledge you can appreciate who you are for what you are, because you know it. With knowledge you can acknowledge. I admire knowledge. I respect everyone because they have knowledge. I respect knowledge because it can only benefit those that seek it rather than hurt them. I am who I am, because of the knowledge I have gained. As Elton John said, “I'm not everybody's cup of tea. But sometimes criticism can be hurtful. Be respectful. I'm a good piano player, I can sing well, I write good songs. If you don't like it, fair enough. But give me a break.” Elton understand herself because she knows herself. Respecting yourself starts with knowing yourself.
Others may believe respecting yourself starts elsewhere, but people can’t define the meaning of respect without knowledge. Respecting yourself starts with gaining knowledge. I took these light paint photos using a Nikon camera on manual mode on a tripod in a dark room. To get the light effect my partner used an app on her phone called mylightpaint and I set the shutter speed to five or six seconds. The only struggle I had was the timing of taking the picture and my partner doing her action was off initially and got better as we continued with the photos. From this light painting I learned that shutter speed, stability with a tripod, and the amount of light in the environment can really affect the the outcome of the photograph. With light painting you can also do special effects of like supernatural abilities.
